LOS ANGELES, CA \u2013 March 31, 2023 \u2013 <\/strong>In celebration of its 60th anniversary, Capitol Records and Universal Music Enterprises (UMe), in conjunction with Peggy Lee Associates, announce the release of a digital expanded edition of Peggy Lee\u2019s I\u2019m a Woman<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available at all digital service providers<\/a>, the newly remastered expanded edition features the 12 original album tracks, including the Leiber and Stoller-penned title track, plus \u201cCome Rain or Come Shine\u201d and \u201cI Left My Heart in San Francisco.\u201d Culled from the Capitol vaults, five of the eight bonus tracks are previously unreleased alternate recordings and session outtakes. Liner notes for the 60th-anniversary release, written by archivist Iv\u00e1n Santiago, will be available at PeggyLee.com on the release date. [PDF available here.<\/a>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bonus tracks include the first take of \u201cI\u2019m a Woman\u201d with a never-before-heard verse; \u201cJealous,\u201d a previously unreleased collaboration with Bobby Darin with Lee singing backup and a playful exchange between the vocalists; \u201cPlease Don\u2019t Rush Me,\u201d \u201cLittle Boat (O Barquinho)\u201d and \u201cTry a Little Tenderness,\u201d not included in the album\u2019s original release; a session outtake of \u201cClose Your Eyes;\u201d and alternate takes of \u201cI\u2019m Walkin\u2019\u201d and \u201cA Taste of Honey.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally released in March 1963, I\u2019m a Woman<\/em> spent 26 weeks on the Billboard<\/em> album chart. Now perennially associated with Peggy Lee, the title track and album\u2019s first single, \u201cI\u2019m a Woman,\u201d spent nine weeks on Billboard\u2019s Hot 100 and garnered Lee a 1962 GRAMMY nomination for Best Solo Vocal Performance, Female. A second GRAMMY nomination followed in 1963 for Best Vocal Performance, Female for the album.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Peggy Lee<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most important musical influences of the 20th century, Peggy Lee wrote over 270 songs, recorded over 1,100 masters, and had over 100 chart hits throughout her seven-decade career. As one of the world\u2019s first female contemporary singer-songwriters, she co-wrote and sang many of her own hits, most notably \u201cHe\u2019s A Tramp\u201d for Disney\u2019s Lady and the Tramp<\/em>, as well as \u201cMa\u00f1ana\u201d and \u201cIt\u2019s A Good Day.\u201d She\u2019s best known for hits \u201cWhy Don\u2019t You Do Right?\u201d \u201cFever,\u201d \u201cI\u2019m A Woman,\u201d and \u201cIs That All There Is?\u201d for which she won the GRAMMY\u00ae for Best Contemporary Female Vocal Performance.
